Fantastic new premises licence in the heart of the Kings Cross project
Great to be a part of this major licensing application under the Licensing Act 2003 to Camden council for the amazing Barworks team in the great Kings Cross development. This is a £4 million development of mixed use retail, restaurant and bar uses and it is going to be a stunning development following on from planning permission in 2018.
The appplication was resisted by about 40 local residents and Barworks consulted with many on the proposals. Some of those objecting residents were able to say how confident they were that Barworks would deliver a magnificent project in the heart of the Kings Cross development one of the biggest in western Europe.
I was able to successfully obtain a great new premises licence for the team in front of a first rate licensing commitee who made every effort to understand the proposals in detail and wished us the best of luck at the end.
This is a study in how to work with the authorities – police had agreed conditions and there were no objections from any other statutory authorities. The applicant also held a consultation meeting with the objecting residents on site which assuaged the concerns of many of them.
